OTHER RELATIVES

This is an application process whereby the sponsor applies to sponsor other relatives.

SPONSORS REQUIREMENTS: The sponsor must be able to:
INCOME REQUIREMENTS

Sponsorship agreements are also signed by the sponsor and the relatives and they agree to adhere to certain responsibilities such as: 

  • sponsor will provide the basic needs for sponsor and relative(s) including
    • Food
    • Shelter
    • Clothing
  • Be financially responsible for them for 20 years from the date they become permanent residents 
  • sponsored person will sign agreement that they will support themselves and their family members 
    • dependent children under 19 years does not need to sign the agreement
SPONSOR ELIGIBILITY

Sponsor must live in Canada to be eligible to sponsor a relative except you:

  • are a Canadian Citizen that lives abroad
  • will return to Canada when the relative immigrates
  • sponsoring a :
    • spouse
    • common law
    • conjugal partner
    • dependent children that have no dependents
SPONSOR RESTRICTIONS
WHO YOU CAN SPONSOR:
CONDITION FOR SPONSORSHIP:

  • One parent is alive 
  • parents are missing
  • parents abandoned relative 
  • catered for by another person while parents were alive
  • parent is in jail or detention

OTHER RELATIVES 
You may sponsor any one relative, regardless of their age but who is related to you by blood or adoption. 

 CONDITIONS FOR SPONSORSHIP
All of these conditions must be met to qualify for this option.  

  • The sponsor does not have any other living relative to sponsor including:
    • spouse, common law partner
    • conjugal partner
    • child
    • parent 
    • grandparent
    • orphaned brother or sister
    • orphaned grandchild 

  • The sponsor does not have any relatives , such as aunt, uncle, or any other listed above, that is either a:
    • Canadian citizen 
    • Permanent resident
    • Registered Indian in Canada
